REACH: Secondary School Scholarships

Across Africa, many girls drop out of school at the secondary school level, when school fees increase dramatically.  AfricAid supports young women who have demonstrated noteworthy potential, but who otherwise would struggle to complete school. Please read below for a full listing of our secondary school scholarship opportunities!

AfricAid’s Kisa Project

Through the Kisa Project, girls in Tanzania have the chance to complete their high school education, while also participating in a two-year leadership training curriculum taught weekly by powerful Tanzanian role models. The program culminates in these young women returning to their home communities and mentoring groups of 10-20 other girls in what they have learned through Kisa. Sponsors have the chance to develop a meaningful relationship with their partner Scholar over the course of two years through the Kisaproject.org website.

Maasai Girls’ Lutheran Secondary School

Where: Monduli, Tanzania
Grade Level: O-Level and A-Level (Grades 8-13)
Area of Focus: Providing education to Tanzania’s young Maasai women
Communication: Sponsors are paired with a student and receive approximately 2 letters per year

When the Maasai Girls’ School was founded in 1996, it was the first of its kind in Tanzania to offer a secondary education to young Maasai girls, who have historically had few educational opportunities. The boarding school provides a home to over 250 girls who are drawn from across rural Tanzania, and who would not otherwise have the chance to go to secondary school. Your donation of $900 will provide a one-year boarding school scholarship for a young girl there. (Please note that ongoing communication will be handled through Operation Bootstrap Africa, a partner of AfricAid.)

Please support a Maasai girl through a $900 scholarship today! Simply indicate “Maasai Girls Lutheran Secondary School” in the notes line of the contribution form.
